Turkeys and Chicks come home to roost

The Turkey Tourney is complete for another year.

Over one hundred Turkeys, Chicks and helpers arrived at Claines Royal British Legion for a day of competition.

A full day of fun and frolics plus the very odd game of backgammon. A beautiful selection of some of the highest quality Turkeys and Chickens from around the UK and Europe gathered for the competition. Some of the highest quality birds came from the Midlands with both the champion Turkey and Champion Chick coming from the beautiful city of Birmingham.

Richard Carter has claimed the prestigious award of Top Turkey 2025 and Ranbir Bains the award for Top Chick 2025. Whatever the feed for the players in Birmingham it certainly seems to be creating good quality produce! Well done Birmingham.

A special mention should go to our friend from Europe, Paul Van Dijke, who was runner up in the Turkeys. A slight change in feed and we can see Europe being a big challenger for next years Turkey prize!

We are pleased that from the fertile ground of Worcester, our own Tim Robinson was the runner up chick. Only been playing backgammon at competition level for a short time, but the feed we use in Worcester seems to bring the chicks along nicely.

The Turkey Gammon Trophy was won by the wonderful Anna Price who was up against the masterful Ginge Fullen.  A great run for both players! Well done! Next year could be yours!

In the Chicks Consolation the winner was Michelle Sykes and her very worthy adversary Diane Turner.

In the Tukey Final chance, the hybrid Worcester/Birmingham Turkey Mark Smyth was just overcome by Goran Gelevski.

Well done to everyone who came along to the tournament. We do not yet have final numbers, but it should be a nice amount raised for our two charities; The Royal British Legion and St Paul's Hostel, Worcester.

Well done to Richard and Ranbir, Paul and Tim, Anna and GInge, Mark and Goran, Diane and Michelle. Please register early for next year and look forward to letting you know the final count on the amount raised soon!
